The Talude neighborhood in Loures (Portugal) has been experiencing times: dozens of demolished homes,  families displaced , and a daily life marked by uncertainty. But amidst the chaos, there is a vibrant community—with children who continue to dream, play, and need space simply to be.
As part of the PLAY(THE)GROUND residency, the Maisuno+1 collective invites us to bring an idea, a game or a workshop to share with the children of Talude.
Cardboard Tower: In this workshop, participants worked together to create their own Cardboard Tower using recycled cardboard, connecting the individual cardboards into a construction. In the first half, participants, in small groups, prepared several cardboard modules.
The modules are made by tracing and cutting out existing cardboard pieces, and making new incisions for windows and openings. In the second half of the workshop, participants designed, drew, and painted to customize their individual cardboard modules.
The workshop culminates with the assembly of all the pieces of the individual modules, which, stacked and assembled, form a collectively made Cardboard Tower.
Creative workshop made in collaboration with an interdisciplinary Designer Katja Helmin.
